Pages & Blocks

Lithium organizes everything into pages and blocks. A page is a container — like a document — and blocks are the content inside it. Blocks can be paragraphs, todos, headings, events, or voice notes.

Creating a page

Open the Browse view from the sidebar and click the + button to create a new page.

Every new page starts with an empty block where you can start typing immediately. The page title is the first heading block.

Writing content

Just start typing. Each line becomes a block. Press Enter to create a new block below.

Block types

You can change a block’s type using the block menu (click the grip handle on the left of any block) or with slash commands:

TypeHow to createDescription
ParagraphJust typePlain text content
TodoType [] or /todoCheckbox item with optional priority
HeadingType #Section heading
EventVia block menuCalendar event with date/time

Nesting blocks

Press Tab to indent a block under its sibling above. Press Shift+Tab to outdent. This creates a tree structure — blocks can have children, which can have their own children.

Nested blocks are useful for:

  • Breaking down a todo into subtasks
  • Organizing notes under headings
  • Creating outlines with multiple levels

Collapsing blocks

Click the collapse arrow on any block that has children to hide its contents. This is useful when you have a lot of nested content and want to focus on the high-level structure.

Reordering blocks

Drag a block by its grip handle to reorder it. You can move blocks between different levels of nesting by dragging left or right.

You can also use keyboard shortcuts:

  • Alt+Up/Down to move a block up or down among its siblings
  • Tab/Shift+Tab to change nesting level

Deleting blocks

Press Backspace at the start of an empty block to delete it. Or use the block menu and select Delete.

For bulk operations, select multiple blocks (click one, then Shift+click another) and press Backspace to delete them all.
